Greetings, Beloved Millennials in Christ!
As the pastor of our vibrant virtual church, I often find myself reflecting on the journey we share as young Christians. In a world that often seems to teeter on the edge of chaos – marred by racial tensions, anxiety, and confusion – we have chosen to stand firm in our faith, striving to live godly lives while anchored in God’s unchanging truth.
Riding the Waves of God’s Will
Just the other day, I was in the midst of my daily routine, “ridin’ ’round n gettin’ it” – as I like to say, minding my own business. Little did I know, God had plans to use me in ways that exceeded my expectations. As I pondered the state of New Hope and its members, I felt a gentle nudge from above. It was as if God Himself was stating, “Yes, New Hope Believers have so much potential to soar higher, yet I want to show you more.”
A Call to Action, Guided by the Spirit
Shortly after that moment of introspection, my phone lit up with messages from the community in Jacksonville, Florida. A fellow minister reached out, asking if I could lead “Bible School” on Thursday at a local church. Another person called from Atlanta, Georgia requesting I visit a family at a local hospital. Yet another person in Jacksonville requested that I lead prayer at an event in September! Each request was a divine tap on the shoulder, a confirmation that God was aligning my desire and His purpose. I simply wanted to be used!
What truly struck me was the genuine care and concern these individuals displayed before even making their requests. They checked in on my well-being, showing the interconnectedness of our church family and the way believers support one another. I couldn’t help but marvel at the goodness of our God. He orchestrates such connections and ties ministry together in unity and love.
Starting Within: Fasting, Prayer, and Study
One profound lesson emerged in the whirlwind of these experiences: before we can fully serve others well and willingly, we must first take care of ourselves. Just as I prepared an avocado benedict before visiting a family, we must nourish our spirits–with bougie nourishment!!!–through the disciplines that strengthen our relationship with God.
So, my dear New Hope Church Believers, let’s rise to the occasion!
Let’s embrace the call to serve while caring for self and others, all guided by the Holy Spirit and anchored in our unwavering faith.
Let’s continue to support and uplift one another as we journey through life’s complexities, knowing that God’s goodness and grace are with us every step of the way.
In His love and light,
