- Image = reputation, comfort, and approval
- Calling= Identity in Christ, purpose, and assignment
- But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his apperance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. -| Samuel 16:7
- A Your calling is based on you inward obedience while your image focuses on outward approval
- You can look right and still be misaligned.
- Jesus never protected his image he was misunderstood, labeled a troublemaker, rejected by religious leaders, and crucified as a criminal.
- If he guarded his image, the cross never wouldve happened
“rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death even death on a cross.” –Philippians 2:7-6
When your image matters more than your calling
- You shrink your voice.
- You delay what God told you to do
- You compromise truth to stay accepted for they loved human praise more than praise from
- “for they loved human praise more than praise from God” – John 12:43
- Your calling will offend your old image!!!
- Your calling doesnt negotiate with comfort it will make people uncomfortable, require you to be misunderstood, seperate you from old labels and expose areas you’d rather keep hidden.
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” -Galatians 1:10
- Remember that God Called you with intention which means your calling is heaven sent/approved which is worth more than temporary reputation!!!!!
“And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” -Romans 8:30
